Kenneth B. Horn

Born in 1959, Ken Horn is a first-generation American. Son of Joachim and Ursula who fled communist East Germany to come to America. The family was sponsored by a small Lutheran Church in Indian Village in Detroit, MI.

He’s currently lives in Frankenmuth, MI where he met his wife Veronica. They have two children, Kevin and Andrea.

Kevin and his wife Ruth also live with them in Frankenmuth and have blessed “Oma & Opa” with three beautiful grandchildren; Liam, Zellie, who is terribly missed, and Zellie’s little sister Aaliyah.

Elected in 1992, Ken was a Saginaw County commissioner for 14 years, then served in the Michigan House of Representatives for 6 years. Now in his second term in the Michigan Senate, Ken is Chairman of the Senate Economic Development committee. His legislative priorities include; economic development, energy issues, education, and workforce development. Ken was deeply involved in the Midwest Council of State Governments and was elected to be Chairman of the Midwest Legislative Conference in 2020.

Ken holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Concordia University in Ann Arbor. He earned his blackbelt in 2005, after training and teaching with the American Tae Kwon Do Academy. Ken is involved in many local civic groups and charities. For his work in economic development and higher education, Ken was recently awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree from Saginaw Valley State University.

As a amateur writer, Ken has written unpublished poetry and published trade journal articles, news editorials, as well officeholder newsletters. This first new book, Letters to Heaven, is more than hobby. It was a labor of love.
